Back when I was in graduate school for nutrition (let’s not count how long ago) probiotics weren’t discussed too much. When they were, they were primarily talked about for occasional stomach problems or as a supplement that we, nutritionists, could recommend in addition to a healthy diet and lifestyle. Certainly, none of that was wrong, but there is so much more to the benefits of probiotics than what was in my textbooks way back when.
